Where Is It All Going?

Another Interruption!

I know. Still no answers!

Rather some connected links

Clubhouse

I wrote about them back in January. Commenting on the way through that this notion that you can’t record a Clubhouse chat is not just flawed, it’s wrong. I know. I recorded one. And it seems that recording is only the start of a possible breakdown … Are Clubhouse chats leaking? Here's what we know.

Others are starting to catch up …

Clubhouse is a REALLY bad idea for private users, companies and investors. As private users they are asking ayou to break the law by providing access to your address book in order to invite your friends to use the platform with you…Clubhouse is a shining example of HOW TO BREAK EU LAW — they are so good at it they could and probably should, write a book on the subject.
~ Alexander Hanff (Read It All)

“Clubhouse is attempting to traverse quadrants with a move to a subscription model, which is smart. I have never been on the Clubhouse app. However, if we introduced a ‘Douchebag’ axis to our model, the voice-conversation app would occupy its own quadrant.”
~ Scott Galloway (Read It All)

Meanwhile, you know that quaint idea of ‘mobile-first’? Forget about it - you need to be digital-first. Chris Lochhead commenting on how the future just changed and most people missed it.

I certainly missed that a 10-second video clip sold for $6.6 million a couple of weeks ago … but it’s even weirder ...

In October 2020, Miami-based art collector Pablo Rodriguez-Fraile spent almost $67,000 on (that same) 10-second video artwork that he could have watched for free online. Last week, he sold it for $6.6 million.

Finally, Ben Thompson talking about the Web’s Missing Interoperability. Old news to some, but as always, Ben doesn’t just write it … he shows it. As I keep reminding … platform is a fancy name for ‘silo’ - and a silo is where you keep homogenized commodities - like wheat, grain … and content.

Roll on Web 3.0 - but who is going to care?

He didn’t only talk about cats …

"The task is…not so much to see what no one has yet seen; but to think what nobody has yet thought, about that which everybody sees."
~ Erwin Schrödinger (via Scott Galloway)
